Upgrade or change your tier

AppSumo lifetime tiers are changed on AppSumo, not in Contral. When you upgrade there, your Contral account picks up the new tier automatically.

How to upgrade your AppSumo tier#

1. Sign in to AppSumo and open appsumo.com/account/products↗.
2. Find Contral in your products.
3. Choose the option to upgrade or change your plan. AppSumo calls this "enhancing" your tier. AppSumo charges you the difference between tiers.
4. Complete the purchase on AppSumo.

AppSumo then notifies Contral, and your Contral account moves to the new tier. No new redemption is needed if your license was already linked to a Contral account.

Upgrades carry over to your Contral account automatically#

When you change tiers, AppSumo issues an updated license that replaces your old one. If your old license was already linked to a Contral account, Contral moves the link and the new tier to the new license for you. Your account, progress and sessions stay the same.

New limits apply as soon as Contral receives the update from AppSumo, which normally takes moments. To see the new plan label in your editor, reload the editor window or sign out and back in. See Your new tier isn't showing in the editor.

If you upgraded before you redeemed (you bought the deal, never clicked Activate, then upgraded), there's nothing to carry over. Redeem the upgraded license the usual way: follow Redeem your AppSumo code.

Downgrading your AppSumo tier#

Downgrades also happen on your AppSumo account↗, and follow AppSumo's own rules. When a downgrade goes through, your Contral account moves to the lower tier and its limits.

What changes after a downgrade:

• Your daily and monthly limits drop to the new tier's limits from that moment on. Usage you've already made in the current day or month still counts.
• Your session total stays the same. If you've already created more sessions than the new tier allows, you won't be able to create new sessions until you upgrade again.
• Tier 3 features (certificates, premium models, priority speed) are no longer available on Tier 1 or Tier 2.

Can I stack AppSumo codes on Contral?#

Not by redeeming several licenses on one account. A Contral account holds one AppSumo license at a time; trying to redeem a second license shows "This account already has a different AppSumo license". To get higher limits, upgrade your single license to a higher tier on AppSumo instead.

Moving from a monthly plan to the lifetime deal#

If you currently pay for a Contral Pro, Pro+ or Teams subscription and want to switch to the lifetime deal:

1. Cancel your subscription in Dashboard → Subscription (contral.ai/subscription↗). See Subscriptions, upgrades & cancellation.
2. Buy the deal on AppSumo and redeem it on the same Contral account.

Moving from the lifetime deal to a monthly plan#

While a lifetime license is active, Contral's checkout won't start a subscription on the same account. It shows "Your account has an AppSumo lifetime license. Upgrade your tier from your AppSumo account instead." If you need a plan that the AppSumo tiers don't cover, such as Teams, contact support and we'll help.
